Éirinn go Brách

Today the girls and I took a field trip of sorts, to Mr. Evil Genius' place of employ. At noon, in what is called "the Square," between the card shop and the Starbucks, students from the McCarthy-Ryan Academy of Irish Dance performed. It was a very enjoyable experience.

Some of the music was taped, and some was provided by a live violinist.

Cool, I loved to watch the step dancers when I was a child. I haven't seen them in years, I would love to see them again.

Those pictures were wonderful! My two dc, both ds and dd, were in a non-competative Irish dance group, but alas, had to drop out when the instructor's changed and the entire format of the class was changed. It was NOT for the good, either. The only other group near here (within an hours drive) is a highly competative group, which we do not want.

Thanks for sharing the pics!

A Lutheran father's confession:

My youngest daughter loves to dance, and she wanted to be in an Irish folk dancing group, but we put her in a German folk dancing group instead (Pommersche Tanzdeel Freistadt). This is a highly regarded dance group, and a lot of our Lutheran School kids join it. We still think she got a lot out of it, but she dropped out in junior high (it has age appropriate subdivisions up to adults, who are very accomplished). She says Irish dancing was what she wanted.

HI. I'm checking in after the Ultimate Blog party. I love these pictures of the dancing! They are just wonderful. The necklace in your newer post is really cute too. I hope you had a good St. Patricks day. We had a Green Party Dinner over here.
