I Love Being Lutheran

I know not everyone who reads here is Lutheran, so those of you who aren't can just disregard this post, but Dan at Necessary Roughness has just posted a great essay on the good points of being Lutheran that I wanted to share with those of you readers who are also.

Thanks for the props, Barb.

And even if a reader is not Lutheran, they can wander over and find out being Lutheran is more than just "not Roman Catholic" and "not Reformed/Calvinistic." :)

That was a great post...I linked it on my site.

A few years ago, there was a consultant who worked in my office who called Lutherans "Lazy Catholics". (Grrr!) He also insisted that Islam is a "very peaceful" religion. **rolling eyes**

Dan, I've just found that lotsa arguments can come up from such discussions. Religion and politics, ya know! :) But if someone really wants to know what being Lutheran is about, it is a good post.

Susan, that consultant sounds annoying, and not very bright. I liked your link to the Two Kingdoms

BTEG, MUST you use the "s" word?

Dan,

Read your 10 points of the advantages of Lutheranism.

You are no average theologian, my friend. Very impressive.

In 29 years as a Pastor I've never met a layman who 'got it'. I'm not talking about simple, beautiful and pure faith in Christ. I'm talking about at a theological level, where they could intelligently defend their faith.

But reading writings from you and others, such as Scott Schreiber and his brother Brian (whom I call The Sons Of Thunder), The Quipper and others, I getting happier, and more hopeful that Lutheranism can be taught and grasped by people other than pastors.

Am I supposed to have any idea what you mean by "s" word?

Yep, you got it! Like most other consultants we've had, I had to redo his work after he left so it would, you know, work properly. ;-)
