Books, Books, Books!

Mr. BTEG wanted to stop at the bookstore while we were out today to look for a particular book. The bookstore we visited had many books on sale, and they were also buy two, get the third free. We needed no further prompting to add some books to our home library. One of the books I picked up was Crocheting for Dummies. I would like to try to learn how to crochet at some point, and an extra reference book is always useful. We also picked up an American Girl Mystery Puzzles set. There are four puzzles, and you put the puzzles together to solve the mystery. The Dancer and I are looking forward to trying this out. Perhaps the Equestrienne will join us.

Our main purpose for going out was to get dance clothes and dance shoes for the Dancer. She needed new ballet slippers, new jazz shoes and some new dance wear. That stuff really adds up, but fortunately she doesn't need it all that often. She *really* loves dancing, though, so it's worth whatever we can do to help her.

There are so many Loopers that want to learn to crochet and knit we should have some kind of Looper fiber conference, sure that would be both educational and a good use of our time :)

Barb, cannot recommend highly enough the Coats & Clark CD-Roms: Crochet Made Easy and Knitting Made Easy.

Absolutely priceless! Has patters of various abilities and step by step videos you can back up and play over and over again. Wonderful! I found them at a local big box store for $6 each a few years ago and we've used them liberally.

Of course, learning from friends is a lot more fun, but sometimes you snatch little chunks of time in the wee hours, or don't have anyone at hand and it's good to not feel like one is imposing when one wishes to see that again...a dozen more times, please...

Have fun learning! A fiber gathering would be interesting.

btw, my daughter went from single chain stitch to making socks and gloves using the CD Rom for guidance - and those can be a bit challenging with multiple needles.

Should have left you the URL:

http://www.coatsandclark.com/Products/Publications/Learn+How/Coats+and+Clark+Learn+How.htm

If it wraps around, just piece it back together. Or you can do a search on "coats and clark" then go to their PUBLICATIONS page, then click on LEARNING CENTER and both CD Roms are pictured there.
