Needle News

The knitting project I have on hand at the moment is a scarf, in a colorful acrylic yarn. I made a mistake today knitting instead of purling a row, which led me to find another mistake, which was that I somehow added a stitch many rows back, so I had to unravel many rows back. That was frustrating, but I'm glad I found the mistake.

I may have to work on the scarf, but I already have a pair of mittens, thanks to a friend. Which is good, because I'm not sure I'm ready to use circular needles. This scarf is only my third project.

Speaking of projects, the Dancer is looking for activities to keep her busy, and she is trying to learn embroidery. Here she is with her practice stitches. She is really enjoying herself, and I hope she can go far with this interest.

WOW! You're making good progress on the knitting.. very cool!

I think circular needles are actually EASIER than regular ones... at least, it seems like it must be - I'm working on my first pair of socks and dealing with FIVE needles isn't the nightmare I thought it would be!

Madelyn is just starting to learn embroidery also. She has been begging to learn for the last several months. My biggest problem is that I can't SEE to do embroidery or cross-stitch anymore.

EC, I am impressed. I'm hoping you're right if I ever move to these other projects.

Karen, the Dancer is mostly learning embroidery out of a book, although I have helped her a little. I love your black kitty.

I long to knit again. It seems theres never time which isn't true of course but it means I'd have to start which is always the hardest.

Oh and what a great idea for your daughter. I think I may start that with mine. i'd forgotten all about it - thanks!

Oh and thanks for the gentle reminder that there are in fact some holy days around Halloween :)

Kate, I'm glad to get more input on the knitting, even if it's not yours. :)

Shay, I mostly knit while my eldest daughter is in Latin class at our pastor's house, or while my youngest daughter is in one of her three dance classes. I also knit at doctor's and dentist's appointments. That's one of the big reasons I wanted to learn knitting, to have a portable project. I also plan to try to pick up crochet, when I'm inspired to.

Great job on the embroidery!

I love using lifelines. I can show you how on Wednesday if you like.
