Free Museum Admission!

Mr. BTEG discovered a great deal for homeschoolers this Saturday, free museum admission for two to lots of good museums. For those of you who pay attention to such things, it *is* being sponsored by dictator-owned Citgo, and I'm not sure what business the Lt. Governor of Louisiana has sponsoring a nationwide museum opportunity. But it's still a great chance for learning, for those whose homeschooling budget is tight. Which is probably just about everyone. :)

Bargain of the Month

It might end up being the bargain of the year, really, but since the year's not over I will hold out hope. :) Anyway, our next door neighbors held a garage sale last week, although the chair in this picture belonged to a friend of theirs who brought some of her things over. In any event, we got this chair for only $25! It is a lot more faded in color than the picture makes it look, and unevenly faded at that. But there are no tears or rips in the upholstery, and the padding and cushion are still cushy! The girls have claimed this as their new favorite chair, which is fine, as it is why we bought it. Maybe someday we can get it recovered, but in the meantime, it works.

A Few School-Related Things

First of all, I discovered to my surprise today that Target had a decent selection of school supplies marked down on clearance. I mean basic stuff, like tape, pencils, pens. And scissors! Scissors are always disappearing at our house. I was happy to get a good price on stuff we go through like crazy anyway.

And speaking of good prices, check out the prices on books here! One caveat, their website does not operate in real time, so a book on their site may not actually be available. Five of the six books I ordered were in stock though, so not bad. When I get the books, I'll let you know how their shipping service, etc. was.

Lastly, for those who love to gaze at the sky and the stars, the Astronomy Picture of the Day offered by NASA is always a fun and informative look. Here's some pictures of a lunar eclipse that my girls stayed up late to see with their father in October of 2004. Their mom also spent some time outside watching it. :)
