School Blues

They're putting back-to-school stuff out at Target already. Amazing, huh? And I'm frazzled trying to pick out curricula for the girls. I'm confused between all the different options, and what would be best. I'm reading reviews and investigating options, and I still can't decide anything. I'll have to by the time our school year starts, I just hope I make the right decisions.

I got two catalogs devoted entirely to a completely secular Christmas the day after the 4th.

Hello!

Deadlines will turn me into a slow-moving glacier.

Make a decision? Nooooooooo!

As a homeschooling parent you get to make all the decisions. YAY!

And, as a homeschooling parent, YOU get to make *ALL* the decisions. (Help! Oh, please, HELP!)

At least, that's how I feel!

barb, i am totally convinced that our children are pre-programmed to learn and *become educated* DESPITE us.
gosh i know that is a blanket statement, but i've seen it come true *ooooks* of times, in the classroom and at home.
so, whatever ya choose, i'm sure it'll work out. what do the girls wanna do>>> history based?? language based??? broad brush strokes???
maybe they wanna come to NZ and *do school at the beach* like out fellers.... hahahahaha
but i am about to Practise Handwriting this term cos my lads' style is rather spidery..... X

That's part of it, Kate; all the different "approaches" are kind of confusing to me too. The Scientist likes to talk things out with someone else, so in a way the curriculum may not matter as much as taking the time with her. For Wildchild, if I could set all her lessons to music and give her a dance to go with them, she'd probably be all set. They'd probably both *love* school at the beach. We really should visit the beach by us soon and get some piccies for you. :)

Hello again!

I'm going to try ONE subject per day this year (three "Rs") and have a day off. Even if there's no curriculum to go with it, we can still cover stuff.
