Their Day

Well, the girls are sure about two things from their day with Daddy yesterday. They don't want to work in a cube farm, and meetings are boring! :) Fortunately, they both brought something to do, so they didn't absolutely *die* of boredom. They each got a goodie bag when they signed in yesterday morning; here are pictures of their "loot."


They made cards for the troops at lunchtime, which I thought was a very nice gesture (my husband works for a greeting card company.) They also got a little tour of the building from a woman who works with my husband. Actually, lots of my husband's co-workers already know the girls from our Wednesday Lunches with Daddy, which made the day more fun for them. Another co-worker let the Scientist play Sudoku on his phone. :)

Looking Up

Well, I've been sick the past couple days, but I'm feeling better and ready to start attacking life again. The girls and I have become addicted to hot chocolate, and now that there is snow on the ground, I think we can put the croquet set in the front hallway away. Ya think?

Since the Quipper has already alerted people to this, I'll just add that Euphoric Reality has been busily following up on the case, and has had their website hacked to boot. Bloggers. Doing the jobs MSM journalists won't do.

Too Great Not to Share

Since I know many of my readers are interested in baseball, I'd like to let you all know about Strikeouts for Troops, with a hat tip to the Anchoress. You can read about the details on their website, but basically major league players (with a couple minor leaguers) are donating money for our troops being treated at military hospitals. Pitchers are donating per strikeout; hitters per hits, homeruns and RBIs. I'm proud to say that our very own C.C. Sabathia and Matt Miller are involved, although Matt Miller's out for the year, but hey, he did sign up at least. We also have a former Indian, Mr. "That's just Manny being Manny" Ramirez himself. Scottius, Lucy, think you could get Albert Pujols involved for next year? :)

As the Anchoress pointed out, this is something that should be making bigger news, but isn't. Sadly, the Anchoress is not surprised. It would have been nice for the Indians organization to say something about it, unless I just missed it. Anyway, I'm proud of our troops, proud of our Indians, and think this is a great idea.

Thankful Beyond Measure

I am so very thankful that there have been brave men willing to die for our country, so that I have the incredibly blessed life I am living, and that my daughters have a future of opportunities. There are always things to improve, but we have the ability and the freedom to work for better things in the future, and much to enjoy right now. I thank God for bringing my ancestors here, and hope my life and my children's lives will have made some small difference too.
