Winter Blues

I really wanted to go ice skating today, as I need to get out of the house badly. However, somehow my ice skates got lost when we moved, so I can't. I'm going to go insane.

I don't know that I've ever got "cabin fever" before, but this winter I seem to have it in spades. I'm bored with everything, including working on my pay-it-forward contest gift for Charity. Not to mention something for Debbie. I *am* working on the Italian wedding soup we're taking for the Lenten supper at church tomorrow, but as that currently involves boiling chicken in a giant pot, it's not very exciting.

What do you do when you feel cooped up and bored with life?

Obsessively check email and blogs.
There, I've admitted it. :)

It's been a hard winter, no doubt about that.

This snow seems like some serious snowfort material. I might have my kids build me one.

This snow *is* great packing snow, I'll admit.

When I feel bored or blah I sleep more. It's something to do and I think maybe I'll snap out of my blah mood after I take a little nap. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't

I'm such a reclusive homebody, I rarely get stir-crazy. But when I do get that kind of boredom you're talking about, I try and do some sort of task I've been procrastinating (like cleaning and organizing closets and rooms, or the stuff on my PC).

I lose my mind.

And I gain weight.

Yuck. I hate winter.

You poor thing. I know this winter has been so hard on folks in the midwest.

I vote you reorganize, also. Lots of caffeine.

Build a fort inside and out! One with blankets and such and the other with snow. When you tire of the one outside, come to the one inside and play games, do read alouds and even have a picnic in it! Anything to break up the routine.

Hope it passes for you quickly. I rarely suffer from cabin fever, but often long to get away from the city and into the mountains where I might, were I fortunate enough to be there in the winter, have the opportunity to experience cabin fever!

How was the soup?

meet friends at the beach, get out into those Big Wide Open Spaces.
or, if the weather is absolutely obnoxious i make soup and muffins and get peeps over for a day-party.

i need people when i get like that.

wishing you a better week and sending you some sunshine X

It was sunny and warm yesterday! But now we're paying for it in rain and cold.
