Via Pastor Peperkorn (on Facebook,) an iPhone app for Confession. What do my Catholic friends think?
I enjoy using the internet for keeping in touch with people that live far away, and I obviously enjoy broadcasting my thoughts and ideas via blogging. But I hope we don't start using things like Skype or cell phones to replace the importance of the physical interaction between the pastor (representing God,) and the congregation. Not that I'm saying that this app does that.

The truth is the Church has never even allowed confession over the phone. All the dial-a-priest services are just for advice and direction.
This app is just to help prepare Catholics for confession by helping them go through an examination of conscience. But Bill D. points out that articles about the app have mis-characterized is as a replacement for confession.
I did try to point out that this app wasn't meant to replace confession. I might not have been clear enough. In any case, the Vatican has also weighed in.
