I believe in prayer, but right now I think we may just be getting the gov't we deserve at this time.

At least my RINO senator Voinovich finally walked out of talks with the Democrats on this horrible porkulus bill. He's resigning this year, so I figured he wouldn't care too much what his constituents said. On the other hand, it will be a chance to get fresh blood in.Barb the Evil Geniushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04635449477605703171noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13469906.post-10624765542093837992009-02-07T17:28:00.000-05:002009-02-07T17:28:00.000-05:00I'm so glad to have a friendly place to talk about...I'm so glad to have a friendly place to talk about this. Thank you, Barb, for starting it!

I agree with Laura that it seems Obama may have bitten off both more than and different from what he expected. He's accustomed to being a star pupil, a shining light who startles people and stirs up their enthusiasm. But he's not at all familiar with leading. Being a leader is a very different matter from being a star performer. There's no approbation to seek now, no visible and quick markers of success. He may be in emotional trouble. Let's hope he's the man his strongest fans think he is and that he can turn the way he sees himself around, very soon. I think the U.S. is strong enough to survive anything, but government without a strong leader could be unsettling if it lasts for a while. Some people loathed GWB but he was the head of the family through it all.

Let's cross our fingers. Meantime, it may be a bumpy ride.jauhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05533248520231931612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13469906.post-67077365179123820212009-02-07T14:13:00.000-05:002009-02-07T14:13:00.000-05:00I agree as well...I still intend to post about pol...I agree as well...I still intend to post about politics, but I'm feeling rather shellshocked about the way our country seems to have completely fallen apart in the last few months, and the disconnect between DC politicians and real people like us who actually have to pay the bills is disheartening. I'd like to scrap both Congress and the tax code and start all over again. I am also quite fearful about Mr. Obama being emotionally and intellectually able to handle the Presidency, based on how he's responded to the first two weeks -- how will he handle real stress? I seriously believe he's in way over his head, which is scary. (I may post on that...)

Since I can't do anything about the above other than complain about it, right now I'd mostly rather focus on things to distract me from the chaos in Washington and the impact the insanity is going to have on our checkbook...so I write about movies. :)

Best wishes,
LauraLaurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09626109831176745957noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13469906.post-46251940142531318452009-02-07T09:14:00.000-05:002009-02-07T09:14:00.000-05:00I used to love politics, but lately I just can't h...I used to love politics, but lately I just can't handle listening to any political stories. The love-fest in the media, the refusal of congressional members to think of the ramifications of their legislation and the people who rave about the greatness of our president drive me to new levels of frustration. Plus, I got so slammed by people who disagreed with me during the campaign and apparently felt that I am a dreadful horrible and bad person. I'm afraid I'm still licking my wounds in addition to being somewhat disenchanted, like you. It's a tough place right now....jauhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05533248520231931612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13469906.post-84870744400349482232009-02-06T14:28:00.000-05:002009-02-06T14:28:00.000-05:00Yeah, I'm semi-ignoring politics myself.
